Superior Shores
is open year round. With our location in the heart of Minnesota's North
Shore, the area provides our guests with four seasons of activities.
Spring
When winter releases her grip, the numerous rivers along the North Shore
rush the melting blanket of snow toward Lake Superior. Enjoy a
pre-season hike in one of the State Parks. The Baptism River's waterfall
is the state's highest and can be quite spectacular.
Summer
The North Shore offers a wide variety of activities during the summer
months. The Resort offers indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs to relax
in, hiking trails and a quarter mile pebble beach, perfect for evening
bonfires.
Don't forget to bring along the golf
clubs. The Lakeview National Golf Course in Two Harbors offers eighteen
holes of championship golf. Two of Minnesota's finest golf courses--
Superior National at Lutsen and Giant's Ridge are just over an hour's
drive. Discount golf passes are available to owners and
guests." and link the Lakeview National Golf Course to this site.

Spend an afternoon of casual cycling
along the North Shore Drive between Duluth and Two Harbors or on the
Willard Munger Trail in West Duluth. If you're seeking more of a
challenge head north to Lutsen's mountain bike park.
Two Harbors boasts a working harbor and
Minnesota's only operational lighthouse. Tours are offered of the
lighthouse and three museums are available for you to explore the
history and heritage of our area. The Two Harbors City Band performs
concerts in the park Thursday evenings at 7:00PM.
Try your luck at fishing. The numerous rivers and
streams along the North Shore are home to brook trout and brown trout.
The breakwater in Two Harbors extends 1000 feet into Lake Superior and
has been known to yield both lake trout and salmon. Enlist the services
of one of several charter fishermen in the area and spend a day fishing
on the big lake. Jim Latvala, captain of the
Rainbow's End
and Dexter
Nelson captain of
Fishing Luhrs
offer charter fishing and sightseeing cruises.
Autumn
The fall colors along the North Shore have been drawing guests to this
area for generations. Spend an afternoon driving the back roads, through
the Sawtooth Mountains for some of the most spectacular scenery
imaginable. The Superior Hiking Trail and numerous state parks will
grace you with breathtaking vistas of Lake Superior and the fall
foliage.
Winter
While the bears may be sleeping through the winter months residents and
tourists definitely are not missing out. The Midwest's premiere downhill
skiing is just an hours drive. Lutsen Mountain boasts four mountains, 72
runs, and the lake effect snow that means skiing from November through
April. Spirit Mountain, 30 miles south in Duluth, lights all runs and
extends the skiing until 9:00PM nightly.
Over 500 kilometers of cross-country
ski trails await you on the North Shore. Both classic and skiing trails
are nearby. Two Harbors offers 10 kilometers of groomed trails, with
three kilometers lit for night skiing.
Yes, you can sled to your door. The
North Shore State Trail, just north of Two Harbors, connects to the
Yukon and Tomahawk Trails. Ely, Grand Marais and the Range Cities can be
day trips from the Resort. |
