Experience these Must-See Museums in Two Harbors
While summer is coming to a close, the North Shore is ramping up for its fall season. A perfect day can be made when vacationing at Superior Shores Resort and checking out all that our beautiful and quaint Two Harbors town has to offer. With plenty of things to do in Two Harbors, MN, you’ll have all the options of a lovely lakeside resort and fun town wrapped up in one giant trip to the shores of Lake Superior. We recommend spending a day traveling throughout our city visiting some interesting museums.
The Duluth and Iron Range Depot is perfect for those who love trains, or those wanting to learn more about the history of the North Shore. Here on the shore, trains were vital for the iron ore industry as well as connecting Duluth and Two Harbors. Initially serving as the headquarters for the Duluth and Iron Range Railroad, today it serves the Lake County Historical Society with office space for administrative uses, archival space and it will soon be home to the new Judge William Scott Library! A great location to learn about all the incredible history that is on the North Shore, especially the history of Two Harbors. We’ve found that this area of town draws quite a bit of people because you get to learn about so much in one location. Plus, after viewing this museum, you’ll want to walk a small ways down to the Edna G.!
The Tug Boat that Could
No kidding, the Edna G. Tugboat is surely one of the most famous on Lake Superior, and you can even step aboard and explore her right from the shoreline! Retired from commission in 1981, this tugboat represents the steel and shipping industry in Two Harbors, and you’re more than likely to enjoy the small tour of her! While she might be small, the Edna G. was a mighty force on the shoreline, guiding large ships into Agate Bay. Today, she represents the past that is still bustling within Two Harbors. We’re sure her bright yellow and maroon outside will draw you in while walking the shoreline of Agate Bay, and you can even see the amazing ore docks!
Finally, you might want to grab a brew at Castle Danger Brewery before heading back to your favorite resort, Superior Shores! Once arriving at your home-away-from-home, grab some grub at Kamloops Restaurant, where you’ll be in for a treat especially when you’ve tasted our homemade bread pudding ~ or you can go to the shore for a calming night on the beach! Whether you venture out to visit the Lake County Historical Society and the Depot, walk the shoreline to the Edna G., or just enjoy the pure history that Two Harbors has, we’re sure you won’t be disappointed. No matter where you go, and no matter what you see, there are lots of things to do in Two Harbors, MN! Now it’s time to make that special trip for a true Northern getaway.
