It’s no longer a secret that Minnesota has one of the best craft beer scenes in the United States! While the Twin Cities have seen very little growth in the past two years, the North Shore continues to multiply. At the current rate, there will be over 15 North Shore breweries in the next five years! With the new additions of Ursa Minor, Hoops, and Blacklist, Duluth has caught the attention of many entrepreneurs and talented head-brewers. The best brewery in the state of Minnesota, according to Star Tribune and Lake Superior Magazine readers, rests in the beautiful lakeside town of Two Harbors, MN. You’ll find Castle Danger Brewing on the edge of town, minutes from Superior Shores Resort, one of the premier Lake Superior resorts!
Castle Danger Brewing Company
You don’t win the “Ultimate Minnesota Beer Bracket” by happenstance. Castle Danger Brewing has been meticulously taking the Minnesota beer scene by storm over the last five years! Castle Danger is, of course, the first place we direct our guests who are looking for a growler of the finest Minnesota beer. Their sleek, laid-back taproom features wooden ceilings, a lengthy plank table, and a peaceful outdoor patio. They’re well known for their balanced Ode IPA, roasty George Hunter Stout, and drinkable 17-7 Pale Ale, but you never know what seasonal beer they’ll be tapping next!
Bent Paddle Brewing Company
You cannot make a list about North Shore breweries without mentioning Bent Paddle Brewing! Bent Paddle recently unveiled a new taproom, which is a gigantic upgrade over their old space next door. Every beer they brew is balanced, drinkable, and flavorful. Widely regarded as one of the five best breweries in Minnesota, Bent Paddle quickly captured the hearts of Duluth’s Lincoln Park neighborhood! Lincoln Park is on the rise as it recently added instant-hit Ursa Minor Brewing and delicious OMC Smokehouse. Bent Paddle’s new taproom is accentuated with modern furniture, a cozy fireplace, exposed ceilings, and local art. Some of our favorite Bent Paddle brews are the Cold Press Black Ale, Roof Rack Vienna Lager, Valve Jockey Series, and Bent Hop IPA.
Voyageur Brewing Company
Stop at Voyageur Brewing on your way back from the Devil’s Kettle Falls, Grand Portage State Park, and Grand Portage National Monument. Voyageur has the only rooftop patio on the North Shore and one of the coziest taprooms in the state! What makes Voyageur a premier beer destination isn’t necessarily the beer – it’s the small town allure, Lake Superior views, and delicious pub food. We also enjoy their hoppy, fruity Devil’s Kettle IPA, earthy Palisade Porter, and sweet Trailbreaker Belgian Wheat!
North Shore Breweries
It was difficult to leave Fitger’s Brewhouse, Hoops, and Canal Park Brewing off this list. Each of these establishments brings something special to the table, especially Fitger’s! The perfect place to start and end each day of North Shore adventure and quality beer tasting is Superior Shores Resort! We’re conveniently located near Castle Danger Brewing, Split Rock Lighthouse, and Gooseberry Falls, only 22 miles up the North Shore from Duluth. And Superior Shores is one of the only four-season North Shore MN resorts! Start planning an overdue wintertime escape up the shore by dialing 1-800-242-1988 or visiting our website.
