We’re nearing one of the most anticipated school breaks in the calendar year: spring break in MN. This March, we’re expecting hundreds of college students from across MnSCU and the University of Minnesota system to visit Superior Shores Resort, home to three elite North Shore lodging options! We’re a long way from rowdy typical spring break locales such as Cancun, Las Vegas, and Jamaica, but we proudly offer something truly unique: a relaxing week of beauty, seclusion, adventure, and delicious North Shore eats!
Nearby MN State Parks
After devouring a hearty breakfast skillet or a stack of buttermilk pancakes, take a short road trip to nearby Gooseberry Falls State Park and Split Rock Lighthouse State Park. Gaze at the vast Lake Superior from Split Rock, and venture down to Pebble Beach for rock-skipping, selfies, and a stroll around Ellingson Island. Pebble Beach remains one of the North Shore’s hidden gems! Gooseberry Falls, meanwhile, has an array of nature trails that are perfect for hikers of all skill levels. Embark on a wilderness journey on the Gitchi Gummi Trail, high above the Gooseberry River gorge, or stroll along the River View Trail. The River View Trail twists and turns with the lazy river, which eventually spills into Lake Superior. The trail leads to Agate Beach, yet another serene spot for rock-skipping, amateur photography, and an afternoon picnic!
Visit Duluth and Two Harbors, MN
Both Duluth and Two Harbors offer a wide variety of fun, relaxation, and award-winning craft beer! Superior Shores Resort is only 22 miles from the beautiful port city of Duluth. Here are ten reasons to visit Duluth this winter: part one and two. We specifically love Glensheen Mansion, Canal Park, Enger Tower, and the Lake Superior Zoo. Back here in Two Harbors, we recommend stopping for a pint of award-winning craft beer at Castle Danger Brewing Company before walking down to the tranquil jetty at Two Harbors Light. Don’t forget to grab a slice of bumbleberry crunch pie at Betty’s and a monster filet of smoked salmon at Russ Kendall’s Smoke House. Hopefully, you’re starting to get a picture of how much fun spring break in MN can be, especially on the North Shore!
Two Harbors MN Restaurants
Before retreating to your fully-equipped three-bedroom lake home, remember to sit down for a delicious lake-view dinner at Kamloops Restaurant & Lounge. Kamloops’ new menu includes classic Minnesota comfort food as well as gourmet seafood and steak. Our guests particularly love our western burger, topped with bacon, fried onion strings, cheddar, and bbq sauce, as well as the skewered jumbo shrimp brushed with a garlic white wine sauce!
