For a small tourist town with a population under 4,000, Two Harbors MN has a dynamic food and craft beer scene. Whether you’re looking for a quick cup of Joe before a full day of North Shore exploration, a refreshing craft beer after a hiking excursion, or a delicious walleye dinner with a lake view, this lakeside community has you covered! Superior Shores Resort is the proud home to one of the premier Two Harbors MN restaurants: Kamloops Restaurant & Lounge. Kamloops has extensive breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus, and a lively lounge that’s open until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday (live music on Fridays is sure to please!). Also, give these four establishments a taste on your upcoming autumn visit to the beautiful North Shore!
Coffee and Scones: Cedar Coffee Company
Many tourists who breeze through our scenic town have never heard of Cedar Coffee Company. Most out-of-towners stop for a quick cup of black coffee on Highway 61 because it’s convenient, but we highly recommend the short detour to Cedar Coffee. This cozy, down-to-earth coffee shop showcases local art and photography and features a large, three-lamp wooden canoe chandelier! There’s ample outdoor seating on the edge of the forest. Cedar Coffee is also connected to a popular local bicycle shop, SpokeNGear! Order a roasty cold brew or creamy latte on-the-go before a full day of hiking, mountain biking, or kayaking. Cedar Coffee also bakes the best scones on the North Shore, which are made fresh every morning!
Slice of Pie: Betty’s Pies
A vacation to the North Shore is incomplete without a slice (or two!) of Betty’s famous pies! Betty’s Pies produces the most delicious pies in the entire state and perhaps the Midwest. Try the bumbleberry crunch, a mouthwatering combination of blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries highlighted with an oatmeal and brown sugar topping. Their pies sell fast, so if the bumbleberry crunch is sadly all gone, we also recommend the Great Lakes fruit, old-fashioned apple, and blueberry.
Craft Beer: Castle Danger Brewing
Highly regarded as one of the best craft breweries in Minnesota, Castle Danger Brewing Company continues to collect awards and accolades. Stop in their sizable taproom for great tunes, beautiful lake views, and excellent ales. Their Ode IPA remains a crushable Minnesota hop-forward craft beer staple, the Castle Cream Ale is one of the most popular beers in the state, and the German CDB Pils is a seasonal winter beer worth revisiting.
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner: Kamloops Restaurant & Lounge
Conveniently located on the second floor of the main lodge at Superior Shores Resort, Kamloops Restaurant & Lounge now features a brand new culinary team that is genuinely dedicated and prideful of their product and service! Start your morning with a stack of fluffy buttermilk pancakes, unique wild rice porridge, or a hearty breakfast skillet. Remember to grab lunch before or after heading to Gooseberry Falls and Split Rock Lighthouse! Kamloops has homemade meatball hoagies, scrumptious wild rice burgers, fresh strawberry salads, and squeaky cheese curds! Our diverse dinner menu features fresh-caught, pan-seared walleye, buttery shrimp scampi, and grandma’s tater tot hotdish. Kamloops has the largest deck among Two Harbors MN restaurants, and our skilled culinary staff continues to wow customers!
