Enjoy Local Music & Festivals
Throughout the summer you’ll find the Two Harbors City Band playing a free weekly concert in downtown Two Harbors at 7:00-8:30 pm along with a free ice cream social. Located right at the Paul Gauche Memorial Band Shell, bring your blankets and lawn chairs for a musical night. If you want even more music in your life, head to Castle Danger Brewery for live music Fridays or Beer + Paint nights, once a month!
On-site, you’ll enjoy DJ Trivia in our lounge every Thursday at 7 pm, and live music every Friday from 8-11.
In its 20th year, on July 29-30, 2017, be a part of the LAST Two Harbors Kayaking Festival. This fantastic festival features three separate kayaks and stand up paddleboard (SUP) races: John Abraham’s 18-Mile Marathon, the Ellen Anderson 10-Mile Race, the Betty’s Pies 5-Mile Race. Each of these three options have different age and boat requirements. There will also be Youth Sprint Races for kids to enjoy. Plus, kayak demos and classes, along with family tours, live music, and more, there is sure to be something for everyone. Make this summer memorable with the last Kayaking festival along Lake Superior’s shore.
There are also plenty of summer events and festivals just outside of Two Harbors MN. If you head to Gooseberry Falls State Park, you can enjoy a few outdoor activities. Hosted by Gooseberry Falls’ Visitor Center, embark on a Falls View Hike (11 am – 12 pm) where you’ll get to explore all three of the Upper, Middle, and Lower Falls, while learning about the history of the area. Want to explore Gooseberry at night? You’ll be in for a treat with the Stories in the Stars: Ojibwe Constellations tour. Starting at 8 p.m., you’ll be able to learn about the stories of the past and how the Ojibwe used the stars for an oral history of the seasons and their people! It is encouraged that you bring bug spray and a flashlight along. These hikes take place throughout the summer, so, you’ll want to check out the State Park site for the schedule and plan accordingly.
Finally, grab your bug spray and flashlights again, to help celebrate 50 years of the North Shore’s beacon of light – Split Rock Lighthouse! You’ll enjoy walking the half mile trail, lined with candle lights as you hear about the stories of those who lived along this rugged coast. It’s a great event for families on July 31, 2017, from 7:30 pm to 9 pm.
